In the 19th century, the industrial era began. Count Henrich zu Stolberg-Wernigerode bought 76 Morgens of land in Welper from the Bruch manor to build a steel mill, and for over 135 years the area around the Henrichshutte was shaped by this powerhouse.

The Bahnstrecke in the mittleren Ruhr-Kreis (Hattingen – Herbede – Wengern-Ost – Hagen Hbf) was built in 1874 and was originally intended for passenger and freight transport. In 1971, it was closed for passenger traffic and in 1979, it was reactivated for freight only. Since then, it has been used primarily for the transport of steel. In the meantime, passenger traffic has been increasing. The reactivation of the route was made possible due to the financial and economic contribution from the Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis.Rechtsanwalt Hattingen
